Space Camp 2006, day 4
The last full day of Space Camp for 2006 saw the completion of the podcasts, whether it is enhanced or video, and an introduction to building and controlling robots.
Students were requested to work in small groups and research a planet whilst at the National Space Centre on Tuesday. Then they had the choice of creating an enhanced (audio) podcast, or a video podcast, to be captured in our Video Studio, utilitising our green screen and chromakey technologies.
On return to the CLC, students got straight down to scripting their podcasts, and collecting resources to enhance what they would create. Some groups decided to be very scientific and formal, while some chose to make theirs more lighthearted, often with some kind of theme, like an ongoing radio show.
After lunch we made use of our function room and ROBOT kits, consisting of a LEGO Mindstorms robots and an iBook. After a short introduction to the programming concepts necessary to control the robot, an assault course was set up and (some of) the robots worked their way around the course.
This stands us in good stead for the First LEGO League competition that we hope to enter next year. For more information, get in touch with us at the CLC.
Today was great.
The robots were the best - and ours worked.
We managed to do the whole thing in 10 steps!!!

today was cool the robots was awesome and the podcast was awesome but i wasn\’t very good [edited] on it lol i dont want to replay it i will be very embarrassed i will look down thank you for a class week bye

today was ok we finished of our podcast which was ok then we had to control the robot by using the laptop

we learnt how to control robots
it was a bit confusing but overall it was fun

space camp has bin great. The week has great fun. The best bit of space would hav to be the space centre and the space misson n the big round theatre they were great thanks for a great week.

the week on the whole was sick, simon & steve was a laugh 2 bad they dont like 2pac lol.
the vist to the space centre was the best thing about this week. the 360 dome fing was sick.
