New web-site comps

I have been working on a brand new layout for the web-site, based on an updated information architecture. This is for several reasons, but mainly for when we completely change over to the new hosting platform. Also, it is something good to be able to say to people in September - ‘have you seen our new web-site?’

It is somewhat or a revolution, rather than an evolution - see Boagworld’s post on it. I felt that after 18 months of an only partially completed site, the time was right for something more radical.
It will, unfortunately, require considerable amounts of new copy to be written as we get going hell-for-leather into the new year, but I know we’re all up for it!?!?
I have posted templates for 2 pages - one a general page, indicating items such as the header including the skip bar at the very top of the page (only visible with CSS disabled, or when hovering at the very top of the page), the breadcrumbs and the banner image, the navigation and the general layout elements. The other page is the sitemap, showing as much of an information architecture as I can think of - if anything obvious is missing, let me know. Again, I would like this to be updated dynamically as pages are added, or moved within the structure. Since this is an image rather than a live page, it is already out of date - there is no directions page, for example.

Have a look, think about the pages, the colour scheme, etc., etc. You can leave any comments, ideas or suggestions on the bottom of this post, or email me. I will make the switch at the start of September (unfortunately, the end of July came and went in terms of having anything ready ‘go live’).
Enjoy the rest of the summer, anyway.

  1. I like them - I *may* be slightly biased!

  2. I really like it. Colours are fine. How did you do it? Is it all hand coded. Are there any live pages to test out?

  4. Designed in Photoshop, have coded some of the functionality, not put any live yet - coward that I am. Will play with it a bit more while we’re away and then put some live as soon as I get back.
