New version of BootCamp

According to the Unofficial Apple Weblog, Apple have just released BootCamp 1.1 beta. Obviously, it is still a beta version, but it is claimed to have significant improvements, especially support for iSight cameras, built in microphones, right-click functionality and improved keyboard support!

To read more about it, go to TUAW, or better still go directly to the Apple BootCamp site.
I am tempted to try it, as i think that this is a fundamentally important step in the convergence of the two platforms - significant as Apple have now released their shiny new Mac Pro. With a few of these beauties placed strategically around the CLC, we will be able to run any software on either platform seamlessly.
It is interesting, given some of the Mac rumours blogs that were posted indicating that Apple may be about to switch support to Parallels Desktop.
Anyway, my 202MB download has now finished downloading, so I’m off to try it. If everything works, I’ll be back, if not, it’s back to the old PowerBook!

Update:
Having downloaded it and read the manual (sigh!), all that is necessary for me to do was to upgrade the drivers disk, which I did. Everything works a treat now, the iSight camera is great for Skype and the keyboard control works well too - although holding down Fn+Ctrl+Alt+Backspace to get Ctrl+Alt+Del was a bit fiddly. The right-click functionality of the right command button was probably the single most useful upgrade, although close second was being able to use the keyboard controls to adjust the volume.

All in all, a great update to a monumentous advance in technology.
